A Happy MobilityDog Birthday Celebration by Humans and Canine Friends

MobilityDog's seventh anniversary celebration was a success for both dogs and humans. The event took place on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at the Western Justice Center's historic Maxwell House in Pasadena, a venue well-suited for community gatherings.

The celebration brought together the MobilityDog community, including service dogs, puppies in training, volunteers, supporters, and newcomers interested in the organization's work.

A Special Reunion

One highlight of the day came when two standard poodle siblings, one black and one white, reunited and greeted each other enthusiastically, jumping for joy.

Student Volunteers and Community Support

The Monrovia High School Key Club provided valuable assistance throughout the event, helping with parking, registration, and sales of MobilityDog merchandise. The enthusiastic students ensured the event ran smoothly and stayed to help with cleanup.

The celebration also welcomed new community members interested in learning about MobilityDog's programs.

Before the public event, the MobilityDog Board of Directors met at the venue to discuss upcoming initiatives. The gathering also brought together board members with long-standing connections, including Barbry Hogue and Pam Allen, both Pomona College graduates from 1972, who reconnected with attorney Marty Jannol, a 1977 Pomona alum who volunteers his legal expertise to the organization.

Media Coverage

Pasadena Weekly covered the event, featuring board member and writer Tom Davenport and Carlos Benavides, President of the Los Angeles County Commission on Disabilities and art therapy instructor at Rancho Los Amigos Rehabilitation Center in Downey. Benavides documented the day with interviews and video footage of handlers and their service dogs.

Event Highlights

Guests enjoyed vegetarian tacos and an assortment of Nothing Bundt Cakes' Bundtinis. The celebration focused on bringing people and dogs together around a shared sense of community and purpose.
