ESSENTIAL SKILLS 101 - Basic Dog Training Class
Essential Skills 101 is a foundational dog training course designed for dogs who are not yet ready for PAT+T or for people who want to properly train their dogs from the beginning using ethical, positive methods.
What This Class Covers: This class focuses on basic obedience and core skills every dog needs:
Sit. Stay. Down. Recall (come when called)
The course follows the AKC STAR Puppy curriculum and uses positive, science-based training methods.
Who This Class Is For
Dogs not yet ready for PAT+T
Puppies and adolescent dogs
People who want to train their own dogs
Handlers preparing for future advanced training
No prior training experience required, but dogs are assessed.
Dogs must pass an assessment to enroll in the course

Training your own service dog requires commitment, consistency, and heart. It means showing up for in-person classes and Zoom sessions, practicing several times each day, and understanding that your dedication creates a lifelong service dog team. A service dog becomes a medical device, a trusted partner, and a source of freedom—opening doors to independence and possibility.
