MobilityDog in February: new milestones, big smiles, and sweet adventures

Field Trip to Vespario

“First Saturday” Field Trip a Resounding Success!

Special Thanks to Third District Supervisor Lindsey P. Horvath, Board of Supervisors discretionary grant which made this field trip possible.

February’s “First Saturday” field trip was held on Saturday, February 7th, with an unforgettable day in Los Angeles, combining community, culture, and cuisine.

The trip began with a vibrant meet-up at the Grand Avenue Arts / Bunker Hill Station at 11:00 AM. Some took the train, some drove, and strolled in from the neighborhood. From there, the group meandered over to Vespario Restaurant on South Grand Avenue for an amazing group lunch. The food and hospitality were sensational and included a 3 course meal that was beyond satisfying. Everyone raved about the incredible food and great conversation!

The highlight of the day was an exclusive 90-minute private tour of The Broad Museum, held from 2:00 to 3:30 PM. Attendees explored the museum’s private and visiting collections, and we were especially grateful for the wonderful docents who took such great care of our group and the Service Dogs (SD) and Service Dog in Training (SDiT) teams. The event was also significant as Aleigha Howa with Pasadena Media was on hand to film the day, creating a special piece to showcase MobilityDog's mission.

The final count showed a fantastic turnout of a total of 23 people in attendance, including 11 SD, and SDiT team and families, with participants joining from locations including Orange, Los Angeles, Fresno, Ventura  and San Diego Counties and Reno Nevada.

Carlos Benavides, MobilityDog Board of Trustees and President of the LA County Commission on Disabilities (with Service Dog Vito) ; CEO Janie Heinrich (with Service Dog Beckett), and Director of Operations, Renee McNally

Thank you to everyone who made this first field trip a resounding success! The commitment and community spirit ensure that MobilityDog continues to advance the FUNctional independence for people with disabilities through service dogs, empowerment, and education.
